History & Profile

Nicolaou Printers is the oldest printing establishment in Cyprus. It was founded by Christopher Nicolaou in 1906 when Cyprus was still a British colony. Mr Nicolaou has led successfully the company through the years as the British Printing Newspaper acknowledges in its issue in 1948. (see article). The strategy of the company during its four-generation of existence is 2-fold: (i) to invest in modern technology and (ii) to penetrate into markets for new products. Nicolaou Printers was the first to import laminating machinery in the early 70's. Security printing and personalization was unknown in Cyprus until 1985 when Nicolaou Printers started the production of personalized cheque books on a 24-hour service. In 1986 the company has entered into the market for computer business forms by installing the latest technology machinery and setting up a separate department. Furthermore, in 1987 the company has been awarded by Zanders Feinpapiere AG, a major papermaker company, a prize for outstanding printing.

After the death of Christopher Nicolaou in 1958, his son Nicos Chr Nicolaou had taken over the company until his death in 1994. Today, CEO and Chairman of the company is Christopher N Nicolaou, the grandson of the late founder. Since 1998 his son Nicos Nicolaou has also joined in the business.
